Insect Imaging specialist job posting

Post by svalley »

The job is at the Oregon Department of Agriculture in Salem, Oregon, USA. The job is classed as limited duration, but it is renewed every year. Almost all the entomology positions are classed limited duration, but it is not something to worry about.

Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Entomologist/Imaging Specialist)

This is a great opportunity for someone experienced in image stacking and related image processing using Zerene Stacker and Adobe Photoshop. The imaging system is a Visionary Digital system with Mitutoyo objectives mounted on a Sigma 150mm Macro lens and Canon 7D camera.

There is also a Tescan Scanning Electron Microscope that allows imaging of fresh specimens without the need for long involved sample preparation procedures.

This was my dream job for many years until I retired in 2012. I returned on a temporary assignment when the person who replaced me left.

The posting is only open until March 28.
