Biddulphia spec. 3D + Asterolampra insignis
Hello,
after quite a while of experimenting, here's a Biddulphia from Oamaru in 3D.
115 images PMax stack, 50x/0.80. Diatom loose on the slide, air, no cover, illumination from two Jansjö-LED and diffusor, very oblique angle obviously.
3D in this case is more than just a gimmick, it adds a lot of information about the shape of the diatom.

Best regards and thanks for looking,
Michael

Thanks a lot for your comments!
Here's another one from the slide, I guess it's Asterolampra insignis A.Schmidt in Schmidt et al 1888, shown with two different illumination setups. First one is "clean" epi-darkfield, second one is lit by two diffused Jansjö LEDs very oblique from the side. Pictures were made quite quickly, hence the not so top notch quality
EPI:
External oblique:
Best regards,
Michael
Edit: typo...
