Male Nepenthes flower

Post by Davids »

Nepenthes aren't known for their flowers. Compared to the pitchers, the flowers are not very memorable. However, they are interesting up close!
This is a male flower of N. glabrata x aristolochioides. The first image is 1.5x with Laowa 60mm 2:1 macro, the rest are with Nikon Plan Apo 4/0.2 NA .

The sepals have large glands that secrete nectar to attract pollinators, but what caught my eye were the glandular trichomes that rim the sepals (see last picture).

Nice group. I particularly like the last image.
