Cicada portrait

Post by Purpuricenus »

The purpose was to show the "face" of this Cicada from Croatia, that at the stereomicroscope caught my attention. Unfortunately I wasn't able to separate the head from the body because the bokeh is not enough, I think that to do better than this I should use a very open diaphgram or a microscope lens.
Hoping that you will enjoy. Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Very good. Is this a single frame picture? It is very detailed.
Maybe one could separate the head with very careful use of an erasing tool or other tool in an image editor.
The head might also be physically removed, but for that I would suggest softening the insect first for a couple days in a container under high humidity.

Thank you for appreciation. Of course not a single picture! It is a stack of 30 images I think. Yes, I could also remove the head but it would be very unnatural.
I didn't try the eraser but the blur tool, but was not enough
