Yes, many of Rui's pictures are very beautiful and catching.

To my taste they are best viewed in small sizes.
Observed in actual size in Flickr it is obvious that many of them are heavily processed with lots of both sharpening and smoothing. In some other pictures the fur of an insect can have areas where the hairs are smoothed completely down to an even, structureless color.

Sometimes part of a picture looks like it is painted on struktured paper.
Although not strictly natural it is done with a great sense for the artistic effect.
But perhaps more appealing to the enthusiasts of art photography than to the many naturalists on this forum.

Well, after reading through all the comments in this thread, I suppose it is my old, fading, diabetic eyes. For I cannot see any of the imperfections that are being discussed. All that I see is one very beautiful butterfly and indeed it is so. :D

I hope I wasn't too nitpicky. I love the images. But I know that if I were to put something up on this site, I would hope and expect that people would point out things that I could improve.
