I see so many beautiful images here. I am not sure yet what combination of equipment, lighting, stacking (user error - most likely) I need to fix to get rid of the artifacts and get those wonderful crisp images I see around here!

Nice set of pictures.

A tip for presentation. If you use Flickr, you can do some "previews" in your posts with a link to a bigger image. I hope it is OK for you?

Use the BBCode in the Message Body like that:

The URL-adress is dark red and could be used from your flickr post (all sizes).

What was it doing? I think a shot of the whole insect might have worked better.

It wasn't doing anything. :) I found it dead a few days earlier and just laid it on its side and tried out my new Nikon 10X objective and focus stacking.
