Enstatite from Summit Rock, Oregon

This photo is from a presentaion that I am preparing, The long crystal is enstatite. The metallic hexagonal plates are ilmenite. This was self collected at Summit rock, Klamath County, Oregon. The image is a stack of 105 images done with Helicon Focus.

Elegant! What are the two small red flakes just above the enstatite?

Rik,

These were assumed to be very thin hematite crystals which would appear red. Now it is believed that they be phlogopite mica colored by hematite. I will be sending some of this material off to an individual who is doing a study on this locality so he may analyze them.
