How lovely! And a wonderful progression, like dancers gradually coming on stage!

From a technical standpoint, I think I understand everything here except that in the second image you have two sets of reflections instead of only one as in all the others. Was that one done using a different material as a reflector, say, top and bottom surfaces of a thick second-surface mirror?

Thanks Rik

Here is a fast non-stacked illustration of how the reflections change. It is the same (second surface) mirror all the time (about 4 - 5 mm thick) and the setup is not changed between the shots. I only change the angle between the line of view of the camera and the mirror surface. Img1 has a very small angle between the line of view of the camera and the mirror surface and img4 has the biggest angle (about 45 degrees).

One can play with this angle + contrast/exposure level to manipulate these higher order reflections.

Fascinating! I had not thought about this dependence on angle, and if I had thought about it, I would have not have expected this result. Thank you for the explanation!

Just realized that I posted this in the wrong category. Should have posted to technical and studio photography, sorry.
