An arresting image with your trademark beautiful and atmospheric lighting. This surely has to be tracheae tubes in insect skin, maybe of a caterpillar?

Yes, Cactusdave is right, these are tracheae tubes. But they originate not from any insect skin but from gills of dragon's larval stage.
