Thinking about getting a microscope, advice needed

Post by seta666 »

Hello,

I have been doing macro photography for the last 4 years and I am pretty used to use microscope lenses up to 100X with a bellows set up

The thing is that I have been thinking a lot about getting a biological scope to take pictures of different stuff and specially to get used to microscopy workflow/illumination techniques.

I have quite a lot of lenses, from finite nikons to mitutoyos and nikon CFI lenses, so maybe a nikon CFI microscope would be more rational move.

My nikon CFI lenses are:

Nikon 10/0.25
Nikon LU plan 20/0.45
Nikon Plan Fluor 20/0.50 DIC M 0.17
Nikon 50/0.55 ELWD (RMS but can be adapted to M25)
Nikon LU plan 50/0.80

With these lenses maybe I just would need 2-3 more to get going, something like a 4X and 40X/60X biological ones

The set up Pwnell had (and sold) before I think would suit my needs perfectly but any recomendations are welcome.

Maybe an Eclipse 400/600? Maybe should I stick with the bellows set up and get a microscope base?

Regards
Javier

At the end I bought a mitutoyo FS50, it is not what I was looking for but it was such a good deal I could not resist.

The provisional set up does not include a microscope base but that is something I would like to add

Anyway, here is the provisional set up and I will update it with any progress I make
