Hi,
(This is my first post. Ever. Anywhere. I hope everything works as it should. As this is my first post the "Beginners Micro" seemed appropriate.)
I've had a life long interest in protozoa and invertebrates, and I now have a bit more time to pursue this. I recently found what I believe to be Frontonia in a stock tank we use for water plants and gold fish. I collected them in samples from the muck from around the plants. They are about 300 microns long.
I am using an Olympus BHTU with trinocular head, SPlan and Achromatic objectives and various NFK relay lens with Nikon D7000 for image capture. I also use a Vivitar 283 flash. (I want to thank this community for all the information they've posted. It made setting everything up possible. It is quite a resource!) I process the images in Lightroom 4 and final sizing in Preview on a MACBook Pro.
My goal right now is to capture, as well as I can with the equipment I have, those features of my subjects needed for identification. I am still learning about post capture processing and my work flow seems, at times, quite haphazard. Any suggestions to improve image quality or formatting would be greatly appreciated.
