Noob here making an intro and some quick questions. First off, thanks to Rik for helping me with my registration, was having some trouble at first and he helped me out.
I wanted to say the forums seem great and I’m excited to be a participant. I’ve been taking pics for a year or two, and really enjoy macro images. Unfortunately, I don’t have any friends with photography backgrounds or interests, so when I show people my images I tend to get generic comments (“looks great”, “meh”, etc.). I’m looking forward to getting some detailed feedback and criticisms from the members here.
A quick question for anyone who can answer. I’ve noticed all the images people post have copyright info on them. While I’d be flattered that someone would consider using my images for commercial gain, it’s about as likely as Angelina dumping Brad for my ugly mug. I don’t know much about the copyright process. Is it as easy as just creating a “stamp” and adding it to your pic, or is there a formal process that must go on? If I’m not worried about my images being swiped, do I need to do anything at all?
That’s it for now. I’m hoping I can figure out the imaging posting procedure (I need to figure out how to resize my images) and get my first pic up when I get home from work. Looking forward to learning from you all!
Thanks!
Mike

The above is informative....In short, putting it on your photos posted on the web is a good idea, but not required. If you have something really valuable, you may want to register the photo (or a whole bunch of your photos) with the copyright office. See here:

Incidentally, welcome to the forum! And keep away from Angelina, she has her eye on me as her next beau!

You know guys, I often have had questions about that myself but never bothered to ask. Thanks for asking MikeM and thank you MikeB for posting the link for us here in the US, also I am sure a lot of our friends across the pond will appreciate DaveW's links as well. Good question, good info
