First try with diatoms

So I went yesterday to my first microbe hunt. Some 2 km from me there is small stream in the woods and as sun finally came out I decided to see what type of diatoms can be found.
The photos are not so great, but the process of collecting them and eager anticipation was joy. I can't wait for weekend :-)
Still waiting all parts for strong LED illumination to come from China so problems of not exactly centered 1 3W led can be seen in stacked photo.

Orthoplan - 40x DIC, orthomat-w projection lens, Canon 350D

I think stretched smudges are from bad centering of light source with rest of the optics (temporary improvised 1 led for light source)

Thanks for looking and any advice is more than welcome for novice like me.

And a question. Am I wrong presuming this is Aulacoseira in photos?
