Post by michabir »

i have a bresser researcher trino microscope
and just bought a used canon 550D camera.

what connectors do i need to get to mount the camera on the microscope
do i need to get an eye piece to put between the microscope and the camera?

what are C-Mount and T-Mount?

C-mount adapters are for video cameras (or expensive specialised microscope cameras) with smaller sensors and shallower bodies than your Canon.

What does the top of your vertical tube look like? Is it a cylinder with an outside diameter of 25mm? If it is, then there are lots of adapters that will fit this tube, with a T mount on the other end. T-mounts were designed to provide interchangeable mounts on lenses for 35mm cameras, and you can easily find one to fit your Canon.

You will need an eyepiece to project the image from the objectives onto the sensor.

I suggest that you ask Bresser if they can supply a suitable eyepiece. They may also be able to supply an adapter that will allow the image that the camera sees and the image that you see through the binocular eyepieces to be in focus at the same time. This may not be possible with an adapter that is not designed for your microscope.

It will probably fit.

I cannot tell you anything about image quality. I cannot tell you if the image in the camera and the image through the binocular eyepieces will be in focus at the same time.

Ignore the bit about setting "infinite focus" and pressing "Focus" on the camera.

You need to start Live View and use the microscope's coarse and fine focus to get a sharp image on the camera's rear screen.

Or use Live View and the EOS Utility program that came on a CD-ROM with your camera, and check focus on your computer screen.

The seller offers a money back guarantee if you don't like it.
