I have a Canon T3i (600) and would like to use two Canon 270 EX II mounted on a bracket for use in macro photography. I'm looking to build a less expensive version of the Canon MT-24 EX.

What is the least expensive way for me to trigger both flashes from the camera and (hopefully) have ETTL?

Thanks!

If the popup (onboard) flash of your T3i is able to act as Commander for the two 270s then you might be able to use an ST-E2 or its Chinese knockoff. However a brief look through the literature for the ST-E2 was not encouraging (it only mentioned controlling 4xx and 5xx flashes.)

I briefly tried using an ETTL “Y” cable with two 430s and that failed miserably (both flashes fired at full power only.) Sad

FlashZebra.com sells twin hot shoe cords. I'm not sure how they work but I have read people use them exactly for what you are intending, to fire two flashes at once. Not sure if ETTL will still work.
