Hi, this is my first post on this forum - English is not my native language - I'm italian - but I hope to be clear enough.
I apologize: I have tried, but the forum is so large that I could not find what I am looking for among so many search results. Please be patient.
I am trying to build my first macro/micro set. I ordered some pieces, waiting for them to arrive - they will take about one month.
So I have some time to improve my incoming set.
I am interested in photographs of plants and insects in the 1:1 to 4:1 range.
I have ordered a cheap 4X/0.10 infinite corrected achromatic planar microscope lens, that I will probably mount in front of my EF 70/200mm f/4 L USM lens,
as a lens tube, mounted on my Canon EOS R5 camera. For now I don't tell in this post about the composition of the specimen micrometric holding set.
Here my question: will my 4x lens cover camera's full frame sensor? If not (apart from Mitutoyo and other billionaire lenses), what kind of ensemble have I to set up in order to possibly cover my camera sensor in that range of magnifications?
I will sincerely appreciate any suggestion and observation. TYVM

Welcome to the forum!
Your microscope lens may or may not cover full frame. Some do, some don't.
We need to know exactly which lens it is, to have any chance of knowing for sure.
Can you provide a link to an advertisement, or give the make and model number of the lens?

Hi Rik, thank you!
it is a chinese 4X lens from eBay - Here's the link
https://www.ebay.it/itm/4X-10X-20X-40X- ... 2749.l2649
Otherwise, any different parts assemble?

Re: Macro/micro rig to be built: suggestions request
I do not know that lens. Maybe somebody else does.
For infinity 4X, my only experience is with the Nikon CFI BE 4X NA 0.10, part number MRN70040. It cleanly covers APS-C at 2.7X, used with a 135 mm tube lens. So, I think it would have no trouble covering full frame at 4X. See postings at https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/ ... 80#p101380 and https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/ ... hp?t=18182 .

Re: Macro/micro rig to be built: suggestions request
Thank you Rik.
As soon as my lens will arrive fron China I 'll test it and guess if it behaves a Nikon unmarked one.
Meanwhile, I have learnt that the coverage at 4x can be larger than at 2.7x. I believed wrongly it was the contrary.
Thank you very much for your kind suggestions.
