My name is Egon and I live in eastern Groningen (a Dutch province).
In the old (film) days I studied photography and became a museum photographer in nature and architecture; in those days the big formats (4x5") were still much in use especially in architecture of course.
After I was declared redundant and deemed too old, too expensive, too much educated, not to mention too much "highlvl" experienced and so on to be fit for job mediation I did not touch a camera for about 20 yrs simply because the level of working I was used to was way too expensive in those days for private fun use. I picked things up again when digital became workable with sortof acceptable results and re-educated myself about the changes that digital made possible which is an ongoing proces....
I'm a "Nikonian", simply because this was the brand to go with when I was studying (if only for being able to use academy- or hired stuff). Later at work... same old for small format, while piece by piece I got my own private kits sorted as well. These days I still use lots of my old gear as high-end glass rarely ages - very happy indeed with my 200mm f/4 AF-D AF-Micro Nikkor, according to Ken Rockwell (nice honest guy btw, afaik in personel contact) the reviewer one of the best ever made... can't disagree.
My main interest though is nature! Nature is never boring and comes for free, each day a new episode - best deal ever!!! Photography makes a good, coupled second with the advantage that mosttimes I more or less know what I'm doing (not that we need to agree when it comes to personal taste/views!) so I hope I can make a few helpful contributions here and learn a lot as well while at it. So much expertise here!
Best photowishes to all!, Egon.
