What's going on with Bioquip?

Post by rjlittlefield »

I just now went to look for something in the Bioquip catalog, and discovered that the whole http://www.bioquip.com web site seems to have disappeared. No matter how I try getting to Bioquip, I get what appears to be a "parking" page at Network Solutions. That page just directs me to other places that sell things in the same lines as Bioquip. I went looking for news of a bankruptcy, takeover, or merger of some sort, but came up dry.

Does anybody know what's going on?

Sounds like they lost (did not renew) their domain name.

Which either indicates carelessness or that they are in trouble.

Its common for domain squatters to try to benefit from existing incoming links by offering something that is in a similar line of business.

Losing a domain is what I would think too, but http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-s ... ioquip.com is still showing that Bioquip is the holder of record and "Record expires on 22-Feb-2019". I don't have a clue what's going on. It looks like http://bioquip.net is still active, but I haven't tried ordering anything.

It seems to work fine for me, 530pm Eastern time zone, USA.

Firefox 3.6.1, old XP laptop.

They must have just had a temporary outage or something...just a guess.

--seems to have been a temporary glitch, perhaps related to the revamping they've been doing to their site. Following on their home page:

Please note that for the past few days we have been experiencing problems with Network Solutions incorrectly redirecting our domain. This problem has now been corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Seems OK now.

Thanks, Joe. That nails it down pretty solid.
