"Seedbox" fruits
Botanical photography in the winter of the Midwestern United States primarily involves a study of deceased and dormant subject matter, such as these interesting seed pods. The common name for Ludwigia alternifolia, “seedbox”, refers to its cubical, box-like, fruits. These mature capsules contain many tiny seeds which pour out of the apical pore at the slightest disturbance. This image is a focus stack (Zerene) of photographs taken with a Sony A7RIV using a reversed 50mm lens resulting in a field of view of approximately 2cm.

Hi Rik
I know Ludwigia repens as a submerged aquarium plant.
Is Ludwigia alternifolia a marsh plant ......
You show nice seed pots of L. alternifolia, perfectly stacked.
Thank you very much, I like them very much.

Re: "Seedbox" fruits
Very nice. Interesting fruit, I was not familiar with these.
Re: "Seedbox" fruits
Well done. Nice lighting too.
Re: "Seedbox" fruits
Thank you for the feedback.
Kurt: Ludwigia alternifolia, while not a marsh plant in the strict sense, does prefer moist soils.
