A few recent stacked shots

Post by JasonC »

Hi All,

I haven't posted any of my macros here yet so, I hope you like them. There is still a fair amount of improvement to be made to my future stacks but I hope to learn a lot of from great community :D

Jason, welcome aboard.

I agree, these are excellent stacks. The third one is spectacular! (closeup of antennae between bits of eyes)

What techniques and equipment are you using?

Thanks Rik,

Yes the hoverfly nose is a favourite of mine too, and one of the most recent 5x magnification stacks I've done that are starting to get as sharp as I'd like.

The equipment I use is:

Canon 70D
MP-E65
MT24-EX twin flash with my own CAD designed diffusers
Velbon focus rail and just recently a Stackshot focus rail

Software wise I use Zerene Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop and NIK software for editing/touching up.

Most of my shots are around 80 shot stacks but, when I get more time from work I need to do some calculations to work out the optimum amount. I've recently found out about sub-stacking so I hope to bring this into my workflow too if it will help with the quality and post processing time.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my photos :D
