Excellent images of a most interesting fern. Are these sporangia or just trichomes?

Frank,

Were these images taken with your Aristophot + StackShot setup?

Those are really interesting images.
Could you explain to me what I'm actually looking at?
What magnification was used?

You see trichomes that give the leaf in water buoyancy.
The magnification is approximately 15:1
