Contrast

Post by Macrero »

Bought a batch of 10 Urania Ripheus a couple of years or so ago.

Don't ask me what I did with them, but I found only one, poorly stored, out of its packaging and a little damaged, but still in acceptable condition.
I cleaned it as best I could and here is the result.

This stack is with Pana G9 in HR mode, Nikon TU Plan 20/0.40 ELWD + 105mm tube lens @ 10.5X on sensor, some cropping.

I like the composition, and I wouldn't like it nearly as much without that little tucked-in blue scale. Contrast is such a challenge with ripheus, as the black scales are SO black and yet they are interesting and you've managed to retain detail in them.

Thank you, Jay.

yep, those scales are a challenging subject per se, and it is even more challenging when there are bright and dark dark scales in the frame.

The tucked-in blue scale deserves its own higher-mag stack. I'll do it when I have more free time.
