Globular springtails

Post by LordV »

Some globular springtail shots. Around 2mm body length. Taken at 5:1 FF with an MPE-65 except #4 taken at 10:1, 1.6 crop with my microscope lens setup. All focus stacked using around 5 shots by hand except #2 (zerene).

Outstanding shots Brian. I especially like the color and sharpness of #2, and the composition of #3. How come they always like so evil?

Thanks Graham :)
Have a feeling it's the slightly goat like head shape.

Excellent series Brian!

I particularly like pic2. You've really managed to capture that look of determined intent that I've so often noticed as they clamber around their micro environment - it always brings a smile to my face.

Thanks for the comments :)

Bruce- I guess they have to concentrate a bit especially as I gather they can't see their food (eyes in the wrong place) and have to go by smell/taste via the sensory hairs around their mouth at the bottom.
