These were abundant in open areas at a widlife sanctuary yesterday.

E-P2, Elmarit 60mm macro, typically 1/160 ISO 800, hand held, bright overcast. Images 1:1 at sensor, x2 crop factor, further cropped by at least 60%

Nice shots...dark but rather photogenic flies.

Very nice to see, especially the first with its sharpness and the third because it shows the sexual dimorphism so well.

I kept thing I had found courting pairs but they mostly seem to have been males facing up to each other.
