Caterpillar, giant texture

Post by gmazza »

Probably one of the less magnified shoot I post here, this frame is about 1:1 (22mm in horizontal) a very big Caterpillar

Image

A closer view, 1:1 with Canon MP-E 65mm of the feet, and spines.

Image

A wide view of the caterpillar, probably one of the less magnified shoots I posted with the 100mm macro, at about 1:3, this almost break the photomacrography forum rules :?

Excellent.
Definitely an Automeris sp. ; A. randa is a possibility.

Thanks folks;

With the temperature on the rise, most of the insets became too active for photography, I'm restricted to the slow giant ones or the sick (end of life cicle) ones.

After some time I ID this Saturniidae as Automeris illustris, have found this info in a local healthcare banner.

It is listed a a dangerous species

Gustavo, this is what I have been waiting for. I have never seen one magnified this amount and the work is beautiful. I am already waiting for more. :)
