Re: Copepod
Nice one, it came out very clean. I have my scope on hold until I get all the toys I need to get proper DF and better illumination.

How do you get best performance from raynox DCR-250 and DCR-150 as tube lenses?
Hi, I guess this has been discussed a zillion times but one more will not do any harm :D I normally use DCR-250 reversed for APS-C and I used to use DCR-150 in normal position for FF but I would like to know how you are using them these days, both for APS-C and FF including distance from tube lens t...

Re: Epi DIC on Mitutoyos with a Nikon slider
Very interesting project with really nice results, I would love to use the mitutoyos with DIC. I may try the PZO DIC with them once I get the adapters I need, it may even work ..

Re: Wandering into fluoroverse
This is a very nice project with beautiful results; I got a BH-2 fluorescence attachment but is missing the G B dichroic mirrors so is kind of useless, maybe I will find them one day..

A couple of pictures with Nikon CFN 100/1.25 and Nikon J1
Hi, Few weeks ago I came across a cheap Nikon J1 (30€ with shipping) and I did some tests. There are a few things I love about this "old" camera like full electronic shutter and glass filter in front of the sensor (no dust) but also some things I do not like; no video without a nikon 1 objective and...

Polarized live Diatom (Pleurosigma sp)
Hi, In the last few weeks I could not expend much time with scope and when I did I did not manage to get results worth sharing. A new stack, adapting to the microscope is proving to be quite challenging. Preparing the samples and working with live moving subjects. It took me several times until I co...

Re: How do you clean Sony camera sensors?
I wet-clean my Sony sensors as little as possible, but when I do it is with good quality sensor swabs and absolutely *minimal* alcohol. I use pure methanol (lab grade stuff bought by the litre for other uses - Eclipse is a ripoff). ...... Thank Beatsy, I thought methanol was more aggressive than et...

Re: Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
You could use reflectors and these would act as new light sources with somewhat lower output. Start with one opposite to the light source and one or two to the sides. Play with size, distance and angle to get different light effects. Use your favorite diffusion method, that does not need to change.

Re: amscope 4x aliexpress alternatives?
Thanks! I understand that it's a lot to ask of a budget objective but I'm fine with less than stellar per-pixel sharpness as I plan to tile the photos to get higher resolution. Controlling the printer should not be difficult. I allready have a Raspberry Pi acting as a print server. It's just the ma...

Re: software for adding photos
If it is panoramas you want to make the software I used to use for that was PTgui
You can define reference points on the pictures to help the software
Maybe there are better options these days
