Bookshelves and reading labels

You got me there!, Nope never thought of about until you caught me not paying attention to my books in the background. I guess I should ask do you have any preferences? While my subjects are pretty limited I have a thousand or so books that I could put in my background shots. Of course now I'm going...

What is it and what is its use?

Folks, Picked this up from a technical company that went out of business recently. It appears to be new, hence all the plastic and oil residue, and not used. Seems to be some sort of movable observation/inspection device. No brand name. Just a "made in Japan" sticker on it. All metal, outstanding ma...

A product to use or copy for use in the field

Folks,
Of all places this popped up in a gardening email from Lee Valley.

See at: http://www.leevalley.com/US/garden/page ... 19&p=69733

Maybe something the Arduino/Beaglebone/Raspberry Pi people can reproduce?

Compare to industry made specimen stages

Folks, Acquired these over the years from ebay. I use these for my stereomicroscope, Axiomat, and Nikon Multiphot. While I have fabricated a few DIY specimen stages I keep coming back to the industry made ones shown below. All of my studio photomacrography and photomicrography efforts are done with ...

Stacking with my Axiomat

Hello Chris S. A good question [This is interesting. So you could do focus stacking with the Axiomat’s existing motor? I take it you aren’t do so already—if so, I’m wondering why not. Motor control issues? ] The Axiomat's motorized objective nosepiece is controlled by a joystick mounted in a control...

Further research

Folks, Your valuable information, input, and suggestions are much appreciated. Your observation that the stand is a Zeiss standard appears to be correct. In order to disassemble the motor from the stand and its housing I had to use both metric and english allen wrenches. I guess, indicating, that th...

Any information on this Olympus stand?

Folks, I unintentionally acquired this Olympus stand when bidding on a table top of used photographic equipment. The stand wasn't mentioned or shown in any of the photos of the bid items. A most fortunate piece of luck, I think. Upon initial examination it appears to be exactly what I have been tryi...

Another Velmex Rig

Craig,
You are right both flanges can be moved but only the front flange, (now my rear flange) has the large knurled knob to easily move the flange forward and backwards.
