Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
That's why I suggested testing the Mitu at 9.25x and compare the results. After all it's not uncommon for manufacturers to round up or down when it comes to magnifications, focal lengths, aperture etc. and it's a good idea to double/tripple check the manufacturer claims. Hahaha, I do not know about...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
Aurogon 20x a little less than 0.3NA -- accidentally changed NA ring while mounting it on setup, maybe this can be made a little stiffer. 191 images, 1.992um step size, ISO 200, 1/13s of exposure. Smaller crop images are NOT 100% crops and all are processed with saturation, hue, and "clarity" (in Pa...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
and they both show the Mitutoyo to have an 11% larger image. At least. It thought there were 100% crops, but I guess I was wrong? Yes, they are 100% crops and it is an excellent choice (no computed part). Initially I used the same (the USAF patter one) and I got two numbers depending on where I use...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
Hmm with an 11% difference in magnification that would make the Laowa an 9,25x... Your observations and calculations are based on heavily resized (from 9504 to 1024), sharpened, compressed, and computed final image, and if you pick an object smaller than than full width or height and relying upon p...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
It's a very interesting comparison, though I've noticed that the difference in magnification is slightly greater than it should be. With the 210mm tube lens the Mitu results in a 10.5x magnification vs 10x of the Aurogon. However if these are 100% crops the difference seems to bei greater, approx. ...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
It is hard to get Mitutoyo 10x and Aurogon to match due to following reasons: 1 different working distance, 2 different lighting angles, I even lowered the light cone down to have same height as in Aurogo, but still have different image. 3 different optical characteristics causing color difference (...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
This is stacked from 25 images with step size of 2.5um, ISO 200, exposure time of 1/25s, and NA of 0.3. It is processed image. Note, because opening of lighting cone is at same level as Aurogon front lens, the word "PT9010" have highlights around them, initially I thought they were some kind of arti...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
Since I have the rail mounted and I always have suspicion that my platform is not level, so I stacked this wafer at 5um step size, 12 images, 10x NA 0.3, ISO200 and 1/8s exposure. It seems to be a lot better than my single image shots where even focus peaking can not give good focus, let alone uneve...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
A crop of previous 10x image, its FOV is close to that of 41x magnification. Paint.net does not have dust removal tool, it might look better with those dusts removed. It is first cropped to 2282x1498, then apply similar processing, then cropped to 1024x683. I think it is a bit over sharpened even wi...

Here is another, similar "processing", but with Saturation increased to 120, I really want to bring out the blue, my fav color.

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
This is when one of the previous 10x image is "processed" using Paint.net v5.0.11, a free simple image software. 1. adjusted "clarity" to 50 and radius 3 in "Highlignts/Shadows" 2. increased "Saturation" to 105 because I personally like the deep orange color and overall tone in this image. 3. change...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
same setup as the wafer (as far as I remember), but the stack is processed. I see, thanks. I am pretty sure a novice person would get a very different final image vs a highly skilled people (like you) with same subject or even with same set of images, but that has nothing to do with lens :D All of ...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
That's the 50 NA0.65 from Jerry (around 1200$), working distance of 9.5 mm makes lightning difficult because the large diameter lens blocks the light. 50x_Jerry_processed.jpg Wow, nice. Is it the same setup as those wafers? Is it "straight" out of stacking software, ie, no post editing like sharpen...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
Practical CA test -- not setting the lens up to reveal CA, but as "normal" use. This is a US dime coin, Aurogon 10x at 0.3NA, 1.992um step size, 171 images, ISO 200 and exposure time 1/60s. Again, the telecentric test seems it is, maybe I should go for a US quarter for stitching :D Zerene Stacker co...

Re: [Hands On] Venus Optics (a.k.a Laowa) Aurogon Macro Lens
Did a quick butterfly wing, Aurogon 10x NA=0.3, 171 images 1.992um step size, ISO 200, exposure time 1/25s. Stacked with Zerene Stacker. Zerene Stacker console log capture of first occurence of "scale" and last one. Merging, finalFit = RegistrationParameters: xoffset = -1.2344321207280462E-5, yoffse...
