If intending to use a camera directly on the Berlebach then the 1/4-20 would be appropriate, but if your intention is to attach a tripod head or some other type of camera positioning device then I would suggest the 3/8" due to the added strength it provides. I think the Mini (non-leveling) comes standard with 1/4-20 bolt. I have some of that screw thread adapter thingies that you can screw into a 1/4-20 to turn it into a 3/8-16 bolt. That's what I was going to use to screw into my ball head.
