Re: Agatized dinosaur bone from 0.7x to 60x
Very nice. Mark is right, the structure looks very similar to the mammals compact bone And a different cell with the 60x as well just for fun. This doesn't look a cell but an osteon: a Haversian canal surrounded by layers of mineralized matrix with small cavities (lacunae) where the cells (osteocyte...

Re: Meta Material Lens Technology in 11 Min Video
Interesting although in the video I see lots of hype but low scientific explanation level, also some really weird things: not only the shape of the nanostructures but specially the fact that after passing through the metalens the light propagates in curved rays

Re: Suggestions on inexpensive camera with electronic shutter.
An important aspect is the sensor size, and the most adequate one depends of the phototube adaptation you want to use. For example, if you have a CF 2.5X photoeyepiece you want a full frame, if you are going to do direct projection APSC or m4/3 are more convenient or if you have a C-mount adapter wi...

Re: Petrographic thin sections
Really hard, even having the right equipment it's delicate
Take a look at a professional non automated method:

There are lots of websites and YouTube videos with info, search petrographic thin sections making or similar

Re: Thin section imaging
Interesting! So you have access to the original thin section slides and you are reproducing the same frames, do you? I love petrographic thin sections but metamorphic rocks mineralogy is too much for my level. About colors beware that some of them, specially as shown in the crop picture are optical ...

Re: Iris photography
I think that most good cameras with a macro lens able to almost fill the frame with the iris (1X APSC or 2X for FF) would do although if you want 40x40 inch size prints to be seen at close distance both camera and lens need to be of the best quality. The main aspect will be illumination because the ...

Re: microscope novice - lighting
Do you use an eyepiece inside the camera adapter? Those old style adapters were designed for doing eyepiece projection: the microscope eyepiece is placed inside the adapter and coupled to the microscope tube but few millimeters higher than the normal viewing position. They also can be used without e...

This must be a wonderful place for living and working.
At your beautiful landscape picture I can see an excellent example of angular disconformity, am I right or is it the eroded monoclinal with the perspective effect?
