Bug head

I have not posted in some time. I was just playing with stacking. Here is a stack of 50 images. 5X objective and episcopic darkfield. I like the compound and two primative eyes.

I believe Rogonar is Rodenstock's four-element design. You should look for the Rodagon series lenses which are six-element designs.

Why do you NEED a tablet? We have a tablet in our imaging center. It is stored in a cabinet because no one uses it.

I would go with a modern six-element enlarging lens from Nikon, Schneider-K, or Rodenstock. They can be fairly inexpensive from ebay. it will give you better resolution and sharpness across the frame that the old lenses you have pictured>

Darkfield is simply stopping the light from passing directly through the specimen and having the light come from the sides. If you place an opaque disk that is just a bit bigger than the sterioscope field and allows light around the disk to illuminate the specimen, you have darkfield. You may have t...

Do you use oil immersion objectives? Then you need an oil darkfield condensor. If not, a dry darkfield condensor is what you need. Are you using diascopic illumination (shining light through the specimen) with your stereoscope? If that is the case, then a darkfield condensor might be available, but ...

You retract the top condensor for low power objectives like 1x or 2x. With the condensor in place, it cannot illuminate the large fields of those objectives.

You should setup Kohler illumination with the entire condensor and then flip it out of the way to use the objective.

Do we cave in to illiteracy and put "Flammable" signs on trucks with hazardous material?

Oh, we have already done that. Nevermind.

The fact they have actually made a prototype suggests that they are having a hard time making this camera work. If the body has been made, that would suggest it would have been only a couple months to mass production on the outside. They may just be getting some PR value out of the product. They hav...

I thought most macro lenses changed their focal length up close now since autofocus lenses came in? In the old days with the helical focusing mount the lens simply extended to focus closer, but as this would take a powerful autofocus motor and be a big battery drain, moving elements to focus was "b...

How dumb! Most web hosting site are equivalent to the old way of showing a print to your family and saying, isn't this neat. From what I understand, the publishing rule is designed to promote work that would not normally be seen and to limit the influence of professional photographers. How the hell ...

BTW, your DiMAGE Viewer CD-ROM should have a manual. If it is version 2.3, the resizing is on page 40.

Mo, if you pm me and send me your e-mail address, I can send you a DiMAGE Viewer pdf manual. If you can get me the version number, that will also help. (ps don't put you e-mail address in this thread - public forums are not a private space). But I can tell you how to do it as well. One the tool bar,...
