I suspect I've missed some previous discussion here, but I just wanted to mention, to my eye I'm seeing what I would definitely assume are interference patterns in your second shot, the backlit set. And I was going to ask about what NU mentioned, is one strand actually a single coherent homogeneous ...

Brilliant, thanks guys.. I don't suppose anyone knows the serial number of the bulb for this microscope? I've looked but I cannot see a serial on my bulb. It has written on it; Olympus over Tokyo logo 240v / 25w Made in Japan It's a smallish bayonet type bulb, half silvered, slightly fancy looking f...

Best UK source for microscope bulbs

I just found the bulb has gone in my Olympus CH microscope.

With all the experts on here I'm hoping someone knows the best place for replacement bulbs, preferably within the UK..

Stomorhina lunata (Not soldier fly at all!)

I'm really not sure what this one is, from the stripey eyes I'm guessing some kind of soldier fly? To the casual observer this fly was quite boring, like one of the many small nondescript grey flies you find on flowers in the garden, but something subtle about the way it was moving told me it was mo...

The Aphid is alive, and just luck/perseverance.. Often if one stack doesn't quite work out you can combine in a shot or se...
