Warm flora

Hi, with more than half of Europe in the freezer I wanted to upload some photos from last summer, to warm up the atmosphere a bit. Is a Portulaca grandiflora flower pistil and leave, a common garden plant. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4694/28375423249_6095b381e8_b.jpg Portulaca by Joaquim F. P. , ...

Re: 4X LENS TEST PART 3 - ENLARGING LENSES

Just grabbed the calipers, It is exactly the same. I was commenting to Chris R in private conversation that when I was shooting the family photos, something strange occurred to me. The Xenon and all of the 28mm componons, when you hold them at the same angle in the same light, the lens structure, t...

RobertOToole: Another great macro-test! Fortunately I already have a 17mm Tominon at home before price rises :D Although with the Nikon dslr camera I can not go lower than 5X with the long barrel MP-4 model it covers quite well the full format, only a little bit soft at corners, so is possible get a...

Re: 4X LENS TEST PART 3 - ENLARGING LENSES

After some delays working on the lightbox image display function on my site, that I gave up on BTW, I finally have part 3 of my 4X test up. Some of the results surprised me, they are interesting for sure! There was one clear winner in my eyes and it was the cheapest lens in the group, the most expe...

A test of D3 and D300 in astronomic imaging: http://astrosurf.com/buil/nikon_test/test.htm Both apply noise reduction in NEF files with all "switches" OFF even at low ISOs, my D300 start to "pixel cleaning" at 1/4 s. and longer exposures, I have no information about new cameras. Canon seems the bran...

Hi, a little test with a Nikon CFI 10x/0.25 and a Rodenstock Apo Gerogon 150mm/9 tested in the threat at 7.5X with a small flat piece of cork as "natural subject". The 13 images stack series is illuminated with manual flashes. Nikon D300 and PB-6 bellows mounted optics with ApoGerogon objective in n...

Really nice demonstration of a quite easy way to open shadows. The butterfly is a very patient model in this great series! I'm intrigued about the tripod configuration with the manfrotto 410 head. The column is in a angle and the head "replied" in a manner i don't never try, have some advantage? bet...

It's a very interesting setting for Studio and stack outside. I tried it with the Nikon D300, micro-nikkor 105/2.8 D AF and Nikon Camera Control Pro ... and the Canon system is much better. To access to focus adjustment control is necessary enter in LiveView mode and there the problems begin. I can ...
