Young Daphnia in the DIC PZO technique.

A short video of a young daphnia Observation using the DIC PZO technique. I don't know if this method brings anything new to the process of learning about the structure of microorganisms. I don't see anything revolutionary in this method, apart from, of course, amazing, psychedelic colors. I must ad...

Recrystallization?

I think it's a process of some kind of recrystallization.
The substance was liquid fertilizer for potted plants
The clip was shot in real time.

Diatom - short video.

Sometimes I come across such specimens.
It's some kind of diatom. I guess Cymbella.
An exceptionally calm specimen.
The lenses used are 40x and 100x.

Feeding microorganisms Żerujące mikroorganizmy 2753

One Rotifer, two Paramecium and a whole lot of other microorganisms. I recognized that much at first glance. They feed together on a large lump of organic matter. I think these are the remains of some leaf. The drop of water in which I found them comes from my breeding farm. The microscope is CZJ Je...

My Vorticella

Hello Another old video extracted from the vast archive on my hard drive. It shows a small community of Vorticella ciliates (I think). What is amazing to me is their synchronization and the speed at which their flagella contract. If I remember correctly, I used an oblique light. Lenses: 12.5x and 25...

Dried plants and UV

It's a harsh winter where I live. Therefore, I do not have access to natural water reservoirs. And the cultures in my jars are extremely low in new microorganisms. So today I will publish very old photos of dried plants. Year 2019. They look like they were taken with a macro lens, but in fact they a...

Re: The shape and form of Entonomeis pulchra

I don't know anything about diatoms. On other creatures, not so much. However, I have always admired their delicate, intricate structure. Their symmetry is disturbing and even hypnotizing to me. Sometimes I could look at photos of diatoms for a very long time. As a child, a very long time ago, I saw...

Spirostomum in BF and DF

This is the first time I've published two videos at the same time.
It won't happen again.
Today Spirostomum filmed in light and dark field.

Long time unseen otifer.

The video comes from my summer outdoor trips.
If you look closely you can see how it feeds.
You can also look at the internal structure.
But I didn't pay attention to such details anymore.
I was happy that I managed to record something at all.

Catenula lemnae again

My home culture of microorganisms is becoming less and less diverse. I'm happy if I even hit something bigger that moves. This sterility may be the result of lack of supplemental feeding. I'll add some biomass and see what the effects will be. Today I will once again present my good friend and frequ...

Plant elements and UV

Hello.

I like observing the autofluorescence of plants.
Unfortunately, the time of year makes it impossible to acquire new specimens.
That's why I'm publishing my old photos on this topic.
I don't remember, but I don't think I showed them on this forum.

Paramecium in polarized light.

Hello.

Today, the polarized light technique is known to everyone.
So two crossed polarizers.
Some amateur compensator.
And between them there is quite a lively Paramecium.
The polarization effect can be seen quite clearly from the beginning of the second minute.

Heliozoa or some amoeba.

Hello. Today I came across this creature. It comes from a sample from a forest pool. I saw something similar once and thought it was Heliozoa, but my forum friends said it was some kind of amoeba. Therefore, now I don't know what to call it. In one study I found a photo very similar to the one from ...

Autofluorescence of lichens

Hello

I have always liked the autofluorescence (for color reasons) of various biological objects.
Today I would like to demonstrate an example of lichen illuminated with UV light.
I found lichen on a small twig I found under a tree.
