Re: Loss of Robert OToole
I did meet Robert and Tatyana his wife, when he brought me a Macro Varon across the pond in his hand luggage, maybe 7 years ago. We became pretty close, by email. I was in communication with him when he had his first health attack, five years ago, and Facebook "friend" status provided a link from Ta...

Very good result
These pbjectives' WD is about 2mm, isn't it?
So Macrero, how did you arrange the lighting? Table tennis ball, sort of thing?
Apologies if you already posted it out somewhere.

Very interesting Andy.
I look forward to understanding more about how these things work. Right now it's too near bed time!
I'm not really clear which parts are floating...

Re: 1908 gold coin
I'm always surprised to find how difficult it is to tell whether the design is incuse or, um, excuse. The word should be excuse.
Splendid coin, looking glorious, you've done it proud.

Really nce fingi, I don't think I've seen those . I know this was a while ago - sorry I didn't see it. I watched Allan Walls' video, which is all fine, but one thing he didn't mention: When you use your nice wide aperture for resolution, the cone of light from the aperture to a point on the inside o...

Re: A Canon MPE-65 alternative?
As far as I know, it's impossible to use an MP-E on a Nikon, unless using something like a "Z" ring which would introduce an extension it's not designed for. I am out of date though. You'd also need a Canon body to get the lens to stop down :( . Far too much trouble! The Canon 35mm bellows lens (out...

That's generous offer! Intriguing, but for the Atlantic ocean.
Many thread-lockers will go gooey with a mild amount of heat, even just a hair dryer.
Have a good trip!

5mm at 5x means 1mm on subject. Perhaps the angle of the mounting plate changes on the rail as the lead screw goes round. As suggested I'd try to see where the misalignment is and quiz the seller. Tip - the eccentricity is likely to vary along the rail. You might be best off using it near one end. (...

Very enjoyable. set.
Beautiful little vine snake, I looked him up to see how little - nobody's saying. I assume 10mm or less diameter?
Evidently the taxa were only recently set out.
