Nice shot. I like the composition (negative space = good in my book) and you caught the hint of iridescence well. How long is the fish? Thanks Beatsy! I was indeed aiming to make the subject stand out with all its colors against the dark background. I reckon the fish was between 1 1/2 and 2 cms in ...

Molly on dark fish tank
It was a bit of a challenge to capture this small fish as it entered the focus zone. They don't look like much when seen with the naked eye, but up close they prove to be very flashy dressers. :-)

A common creature: the mighty mosquito
As common as creatures come, this mosquito. Yet so fascinating when seen up close and so perfectly evolved to survive through the ages. Photographed in Quintana Roo, Yucatan Peninsula. Nikon D90, Micro-Nikkor 60mm, Nikon SB-600 off-camera flash. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/6630_Mos...

Hello Almblad, thanks so much for your reply, it's helpful to get some feedback. I owned the Micro-Nikkor in the past and loved it, but it was stolen a few years ago. So I don't have it with me to make a direct comparison with the 200mm Micro-Nikkor I now have. But judging from memory and looking at...

Raynox and Micro-Nikkor 200mm/f4?
Hello everyone. I'm considering buying the Raynox DCR-150 and DCR-250 lenses. I intend to use the Raynox with a Micro-Nikkor AF 200mm/f4 lens. I've read caveats about using the Raynox with real macro lenses, since the front element of these may be too recessed to make mounting the Raynox practical, ...
