I'm surprised nobody has mentioned overheating... I've been using a flashpoint evolv 200 (godox ad200) and after about 100 shots at 1/4 power it overheats and falls back to a 10s recycle time. Same issue with some cheap neewer speedlights. Any advice on how to go faster? Ideally with speedlights/str...

Thanks all. I'll try decreasing the blackout time in my exposure. I'm running a single speedlight (evolv 200) at 1/128 power, but it overheats if I make more than one exposure every 10 seconds, which is how I arrived at 10 seconds of darkness/no motion, and 2 seconds to close and open the shutter an...

"dead" or "hot" pixels?
To me these multicolored "dust trails" look like dead pixels. Has anyone else experienced these? Could it be some other kind of sensor noise? Can they be minimized with a shorter exposer? I'm shooting at base ISO on a Canon 6D, ~8 second exposure, with a single flash at ~7 second mark. Thanks 100% c...

Yes it keeps them alive! It may only work for young fish, though. I'm not sure about large fish. It melts at a low enough temperature to not hurt the fish, and it is permeable enough to allow them to breathe. I have a bit of experience using it for live imaging in zebrafish larvae. At that stage the...

In a laboratory setting, fish are embedded in low temperature agarose (https://www.thermofisher.com/order/cata ... t/16520050) for imaging, but it's very expensive.
Maybe you can come up with a similar solution.

Sure here are some annotations: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-cpVfL96/0/247d56ea/X4/i-cpVfL96-X4.jpg I guess I was just using "halos" as a catch-all for a few different kinds of artifacts. To me, #1 looks kind of smudged, like the highlights are bleeding over into darker areas even though the ...
