Does anybody know how long does it take for female to lay eggs?

Mantis with pray

I'm following a mantis at my garden on the lavender plant. Yesterday she captured a bumblebee http://file.si/files/16559_accva/bogomolka-kosilo-1.jpg http://file.si/files/16561_3qjs8/bogomolka-kosilo-3.jpg Today the male came http://file.si/files/16558_oyli3/bogomolka.jpg Few hours later his head wa...

Mantis ID

Can someone shed some light on name and age for this young fella? It's about 15mm (0,6inch) and pretty feisty.

wasp spider in action

After a year of not posting (and shooting) here's a moment in a life of wasp spider ( Argiope bruennichi ) Spider resting in the middle of the net and sucking on some small meal. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae236/teva-art/forum/osasti-pajek-1.jpg Then, the net shakes and spider moves few cm t...

I used tripod and no flash. There was not much light available, so exposure had to be long. Too bad there was slight wind, that ruined most of my shots :)

Thanks for your comments.

What would you recommend to use for first timer? Any good and not to expensive lenses that are usable on bellows? Just to know what to search for on ebay.

Thanks

Which lense for bellows

I'm about to purchase m42 bellows to screw it on Minolta Dynax 7D with m42 adapter ring. What confuses me is which lens to use for stacking. I'm looking for some cheap old lenses to begin with and will go on from there. What i found so far are some old cameras which i think have usable lenses. Since...

Erland: Yep, it's very distracting that left eye is off focus. He kept moving his head :)

MacroLuv: I held a purple flower behind the subject, to get more pleasant background. I usually have one or two flowers with different color with me, so i can manipulate the background :)

Cold morning really helps to still the difficult subjects and watter drops are just a bonus :) I think it's platycnemis pennipes, but will wait if someone can confirm that. Ladybug larvae

There were quite a few of this little fellas around. Some still frozen from the cold night and others already "running" around. I find them really cute this way :) Focal Length: 130.0mm (35mm equivalent: 195mm) Exposure Time: 0.0080 s (1/125) Aperture: f/32.0 ISO equiv: 200 http://tevart.org/foto/Ma...

jaharris1001: I used old Minolta 70-210 f4 lens with +6 closeup. It was early in the morning and fly was hovering very still in the air. It was not really that difficult :)

Rik: Actually i only took two shots, both came out good...i guess i was very lucky :)

mantis posture

What i like here is the posture of the mantis. It reminds me of shaolin masters and it looks like the mantis is holding a "fighting" stick. It's missing some focus and background is distracting, but nevertheless i really like the posture. Tnx for watching http://tevart.org/foto/Macro/Mantis/bogomolk...
