Re: Fluorite with masking tape

These are gorgeous, and nicely shot. There is some 50 cent word for this appearance, which like most terms is probably latin for "masking tape" LOL. I wonder how they look under UV.

Look fo hot / dead pixel mapping in camera

Many modern cameras include built in hot pixel / dead pixel mapping. If your's does, you can run it and not worry about it for a month or so. If you already have a series you want to repair, this is surprising easy to do with Image Magick and some light weight scripting. Once you identify the (x,y) ...

Yeah, it has a small tray.

For playing around you can use concentrated / undiluted radiator fluid, which is ethylene or propylene glycol, and dillute slightly to get that 80/20 ratio. It actually works pretty well. Keep dogs and cats away.

Sectioning / wafering saw blade wobble

I finally got around to fixing an old Buhler IsoMet sectioning saw with a bad fiber gear, one of the small models with 4" blades. There is a very slight wobble in the blades as it saws. Its not visible, but you can hear the saw "singing" differently and you can feel on the side of the blade perhaps ...

I ended up getting mine in the mail yesterday. I hope to have some time this weekend to use them for playing with the $100 Nikon 20x 0.75.

I have some 1oz platinum crucibles my dad used in grad school. He kept the original receipt from the Syracuse U bookstore c. 1962 in his papers: they were $12 each. There are a lot of catalytic reactions you can demonstrate with a small piece like you have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsIhjinuBY...

Gorgeous video. This is the sort of stuff those assembling OER would love to be able to license. There are a lot of people who can sling words around and edit things, but few content creators that create engaging content like this.

I have had no issues ordering from the bw-optik.de site in Chrome -w- translation and paying via PayPal in the past ( telescope adapter parts ) and I was able to order test slides a couple days ago. Got an order confirmation. It may go bad if you try to translate the PayPal login page rather than us...
