That is the lowest serial number 105PN I've come across. I have added it to the list. Previous low number was 153.
I was told( no evidence) when I purchased it that it was used on the first Star wars film. Its an interesting story but with no confirmed provenance thats all it is: a story.

Re: Issue with Printing Nikkor (105mm)?

It does look like a very light case of Schneideritis (=SK disease). In principle it could happen in any lens where the girdle of the elements has been painted black to increase contrast and reduce the chance of internal reflections. It is also a good idea not to disassemble the lens, because this w...

hard to say from the picture, but doesn't look like fungus either to me (which tends to be more irregular).
what's SK disease?
Forgive my spelling in advance Schnieder Kreutznach disease where the inside coating flakes off... but there are no loose pieces of coating inside the lens

Worried it might be fungus I took it the the classic leica store( do repairs) here in Vienna and asked their opinion. This 1:1 issue is actually something that makes APS-C sensors seem more suitable for coin photography. I think this comment shows a clear coin collectors bias to one particular coin series. In regards to coins it can not be taken as a general across the board comment. I believe it focuses on the sp...

The OLy 80mm F4 bellows lens is optimised for 1-1 . Its not a great lens as it suffers badly from Lateral CA.

As far as Coins go 1-1 is applicable to only small diameter coins. For Thaler/Crown/Silver-Dollar sized coins on a full frame sensor about 0.6X is used.

See here for the report, and let me know any comments: http://www.macrocoins.com/80mm-lens-shootout.html Hello, Your tests are at about 1:1, but most lenses are not computed for 1:1, except the Macro Symmar or the Olympus. Is this the reason why the macro Symmar is the best? Martin I expect so. A c...
