ploum, your work is simply great. I was wondering if you have ever taken stacks of moldavite? I believe catching some of the air pockets within a nice specimen would look intriguing.

and having separate folders deemed for certain lengths in the set? For example (and this method is not for my use), let's say I have my setup on the StackShot and give it a go. I want images numbered 1-40 to be placed in folder A, 41-80 placed in folder B, and 81-100 to be placed in A's parent direc...

It's been some time since I mentioned that I would post them, but here is a basic idea of how I utilized a 3D printer to adapter a focus block to my specifications; I used Autodesk Inventor (student license) to to design the pieces- even with a steep learning curve, as I haven't utilized any type of...

Kieran, I just wanted to chime in and say thank you for showing us these. The cones on the edge of the fly's wing are something that have never crossed my mind, and as with many photos here on the forums, it completely reorients my perception of the macro world. Good show and gorgeous shots!

You are surely not alone. Thank you for the link in my previous post. I'm wondering about their pricing. I haven't been able to find many other companies that are quick to reply- one even suggested that I go with something completely irrelevant... it was difficult communicating with them to say the ...

That is correct. I think USPS will take two days to get to you from Humboldt Co. Another gentleman proposed that if you don't take it, he would take me up on the offer, and I replied that I would give you the weekend to decide, so please let me know by tomorrow night- I can ship it Monday if you do ...

Tecumseh, I have a StackShot controller I'd be willing to let go for $200. Wil ship for free unless you're overseas. I need to get the 3X controller, so I will have no need for the single output version. Cheers

Sent out inquiries to Lanoptik and Visions Connection; waiting for a reply. Today I spoke with Imperx about these CCD cameras . The 11MP (B4020) is priced at $10,995, the 16MP (B4820) at $13,995, and the 29MP at $16,995. These are all supported by the CameraLink Base-version (very similar to a graph...

Thank you all very much for your input up to this point- it has been very helpful. Not only is my knowledge on DSLRs and cameras, in general, quite limited compared to the professionals here, but my idea of what I need in a camera regarding my future endeavors is quite hazy. I have started by contac...

High-count exposures at multiple angles- which camera ?

Hey all. I have an issue that I'd appreciate some help with. To get a general sense of what I mean by "high-count", I recently took around 25,000 single exposures, results in around 70 varying angles. I will need many more angles in order to process into a 3D model, and with this in consideration, I...

The Bratcam is the most famous and arguably the most refined of those, so another way of thinking about this thread is along the lines of "How can I build something like a Bratcam if I don't know anybody like a Don Wilson?" Rik, I took Chris S.'s Bratcam idea and went a similar route. A breadboard ...

Yes, thanks, I will be sure to space my paragraphs from here, out. I thoroughly enjoyed the post you linked to, and yes this is part of what I wish to achieve- building an infinity lens tube at 200mm. One quick question; I was perusing ThorLabs website today and found the ITL200 infinity lens, but t...

Digital camera sensor to replace DSLR

I've been through my first test run with the 3D modeling. I used 50 different angles, with 36 around the equator in 10deg increments and some outlying angles, and got better results than I had anticipated with plant matter. I am in the process of acquiring Mitutoyo Plan Apos now, but I have been thi...

I've always found BugGuide.net to be helpful for IDs, especially when I was getting into Sphingidae moths of the Midwest. Not implying that your requests are unwelcome here, I just absolutely love that site (almost as much as here!). For moths, try to get a picture of at least one wing- it helps ver...
