Drone Fly Stacks

All shot with Nikon D300, Bellows, Reversed Nikkor 50mm 2.8 EL. Drone fly, left in freezer, hence some small water droplets. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_Drone_Fly_Side_on_1_1.jpg http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_Drone_Fly_Head_on_1_1.jpg http://www.photomacrogr...

Thanks Charles, nice to know about the apperture for sure. I've just made a diffuser by cutting the bottom off a plastic drinks 'glass' and put a couple of layers of kitchen roll over the end to diffuse the light from my flash - I'll add more layers if it is too harsh. Hopefully it will give me a ni...

Thanks for the feedback. Agree the square catchlight isn't the best look, I may have to make a circular difuser ( I have a shoot through umbrella but think it may be too big!). Yes, first outing with the proxxon, definately not the last. Will have to use smaller increments though, but really like th...

Jumping Spider Stack

http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_Jumping_Spider_Stack_1.jpg First trial run using my newly created rig. Not entirely happy with the result but this is due to my operation rather than the setup. I forgot to reset the aperture so this was shot at f8 instead of f5.6, which I understan...

Great photos. I love the second action shot.
Looks like a male as it has 7 'leaves' on its antenna, females have 6 on each side.

I've tried to take on board all the great suggestions and have come up with a new setup, which is a whole lot sturdier. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_NewSetup_1.jpg (1) Proxxon KT70 milling table mounted on 2ft long galvanised steel support. Ebay bellows with reversed 50mm EL Nik...

Thank you so much to everyone for all their tips and advice. Everything you said is pretty much spot on the mark. The camera does need to be supported better. It does suffer a little from vibrations. The glass does give me quite a few problems. (Dust, marks, imperfections, reflections etc.) My Proxx...

Thanks for the tips - most welcome. Have discovered that the movement is a little harsh, so have taken the plunge and ordered a Proxxon KT70 table. Will try it horizontally first I think (not sure if it will stay in place if mounted vertically). Noticed a few people have one in their setups and got ...

Very DIY setup

Found a setup on Flickr that I thought I would try out. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_setup1_1.jpg http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/444_setup2_1.jpg It consists of 4 offcuts of wood I picked up for £2 screwed together with a larger back board mounted partway up the b...

Thanks so much for your quick responses. Things are much clearer now. Can't wait to get my hands on my new 50m 2.8 enlarger lens. No doubt the step up ring I ordered will arrive at a different time - leaving me in limbo! Also ordered bellows from hong kong - all this waiting is kiling me! at least i...
