Well that IS interesting. Now I am not sure weather I have done the right thing. I have just managed to pick up a near new pristine second hand lens for about half price. If anyone is interested there is this one on Gumtree.

Many thanks for all the replays. Looks like the lens is perfectly fine to buy. Luckily I have managed to find a mint one with no scratches for almost the same price so I will get one.

I have been offered a second hand Nikon 200mm f4 Macro lens which may have a mark on the front glass.

Would this mark effect the images that the lens would produce?

I have 105mm VR Macro Nikon lens which I love and use a lot. I am looking for something I can use outdoors with a bit more distance from my subject.
