Microscope objectives
Hey All -- I have a couple of very lightly used objectives I'd like to sell - $70 each. I would entertain offers. Nikon CFI BE plan achromat 10x/0.25 WD6.7 MRN70100 Nikon CFI BE plan achromat 4x/0.10 WD25 MRN70040 I've attached a photo of both as an attachment, still in their original protective cas...

Polaroid land camera and stand
Hi All,
I've inherited a Polaroid MP4 land camera 44-01 and stand. It also has a variety of lenses. Would this be of interest to anyone?

Thanks Rik and Chris S -- Chris S -- I am wanting something much simpler. I'm processing 1000s of insects over the winter months. I'm not looking for perfection as they will still have "schmutz" on them from the collection method or being ground dwellers. Perfection, in my case, would equal never ge...

DUH! I was thinking when you said "layers" there would be space between them. When it finally hit me I had misinterpretted your statement, I added another layer of the frosted diffusion paper. Here's the results. While I'm happy with the lack of glare, it has also created a lack of detail but not a ...

I think I'm getting closer. It seems "fixing" one problem creates another. I created a diffuser from a vinegar container, hoping it would mimic Charles Krebs' dome. Took some pics and still had glare. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/4109_DSC041921_1.jpg As I was looking at this, I real...

This explanation makes so much sense. Yet, these twin lights have plastic diffuser caps on them. I *thought* that was supposed to keep the light from directly hitting the subject. I also point them away from the subject so I wouldn't have thought there was a direct hit. Why are these diffusers not e...

The lines and seams are not in focus. I thought he was trying to tell me it created bouncing issues. I apparently am not creating a proper bounce box. I just made this one to test it out. To cover the front I use a piece of cloth -- again just to test this out. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/...

Bounce box
I've been using a cardboard box lined with matte finish white posterboard to bounce my flash. Recently, I was told that using a white styrofoam cooler would be a better option because it didn't have seams or hard lines. I do continue to get glare off the shiny elytra of the insects but before trying...

Bouncing light
When in the studio, I would need to have the insect surrounded with something (like a box or milk carton, etc) for the light to bounce off of -- correct?
When in the field, would the light bounce off the vegetation? Or what other consideration should I be giving to this?

Thanks for the reply.
These diffusers look durable but since I don't fully understand the science of how they work, I thought I would ask this forum. Thanks for your response. Thanks for your kind words about the website, too! Most of my insect photos are for scientific reasons and not art, yet...I like to have them done...

Turtledove diffuser for twin lites
Has anyone used the turtledove diffuser for twin lites? What's been your experience? How does it work outside at night? Outside during the day? If you use it in a studio setting, is it used alone? I'm photo'g insects and still struggling with the glare. Thanks for the thoughts and experiences. Marci...
