Re: Unsolvable Focal Abnormalities on an OM-D E-M1X & M.Zuiko 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO
I use a Lumix G9 for stacking. This camera has two different sequences for shooting the stack. One of these sequences moves the focus position closer and farther away from the initial position of the stack. The second sequence moves the focus position farther away from the initial position as the st...

Re: Panasonic G9 (owners)
No, actually I am not using this software. My computer is kind of far from my photo rig, thus I am just relying on the focus bracketing function of the G9 for the photo acquisition.

Re: Panasonic G9 (ownders)
There is a "Lumix Tether" program that you can use with the G9. It will allow control of the camera and photo acquisition, but it has no processing capabilities at all.

Re: AmScope x4 vs Generic X4 review
Probably we can not trust AmScope for having a consistent network of suppliers.
About 3/4 years ago I bought one of the 4X objectives from its US store. On checking it today, it happens to look like your generic objective.

Re: Chondritic Meteorite section
Hi Jose Antonio. I normally prepare photo-mosaics from petrographical thin sections, although not as bigger as you do. In my case, they are usually 54 pictures, taken on my microscope using a Canon 550D. For stitching, I use either Microsoft ICE or Affinity Photo. Microsoft ICE is really fast at com...

Re: Micro meteorites
Hi Argu. If I recall correctly, Larsen used a Dino-Lite type of microscope. I guess that he stacked the images, but I do not remember how he proceeded for this. Combing sands with a neodymium magnet will allow you to recover quite an amount of mineral grains. You will have to be very careful to be a...

Hi.
Just by chance, I came across a program called Meshroom, which is open source and, I believe, free.
I watched a couple of videos on Youtube and this is something I may try in the future. Take a look, it might suit you.

Hi Rik. Interesting sample. As Chris mentioned, some of the grains may correspond to mica minerals, particularly those very thin and having a flake-like shape. There are some greenish grains, which probable are olivine and or pyroxenes. The serrated grains may correspond to "glass shards" derived fr...
