Sony DXC-107A CCD -IRIS Video Microscope Camera good for??
I am unfamiliar with microscope video cameras, but have shot photos through my Nikon Eclipse/ D800E / Stackshot setup, etc. and have experimented with attaching a microscope objective to the DSLR. Is an old Sony DXC-107 CCD-Iris Color Video Microscope Camera with CMA-D2 camera adapter good for parts...

Thank you for your (quick) reply. Although I kept wondering what 'EO' stood for, in my excitement (after saving up for this), it didn't occur to me that EO stood for Edmund Optics, so that it wasn't even a Mitutoyo objective, doh... Thanks for pointing that out and the other information. I have orde...

Which Mitutoyo 10X LWD objective to buy? (Edmund's has two)
I have been saving up for what I thought was 'the' Mitutoyo 10x objective, but now that I am ready to order, I see that EdmundOptics has two listed and I am not astute enough to see which would be 'better' for me. They both seem to have the same specs except where noted below: A) 10X Mitutoyo Plan A...

Carolina, enjoy your drill press! :D I'd like to have one, myself. And none of what Rik and I have discussed lessens my concern that your current wooden dowel might damage your microscope. Cheers, --Chris Thanks Chris, I ordered a WEN 5-speed 8 inch for ~ $80 from Amazon (had lots of positive revie...

Thanks Pau, My skills in microscopy I would say are nominal. I did, for example, experiment with the condenser aperture some and realized closing the aperture down would make things look sharper, increase DOF (just like squinting an eye, or using a smaller aperture in photography), but I didn't know...

Shooting slides with D800E over Nikon Eclipse E200 questions
OK, I finally have StackShot working on my Nikon Eclipse E200 microscope, which have infinity plan acromat objectives. The setup is Nikon D800E / bellows / Raynox DCR-150 over the microscope (binocular head removed). At 40X, the DOF is so shallow that I seem to only get/need 3 steps (1 uM each) to s...

Thank you, Rik. I was able to get it working. It is a forgiving setup. I don't have a drill press, so my hand drilling for the shaft hole wasn't as parallel to the wooden cylinder sides as it should be, thus a slight wobble to the stepper motor :( but it works. I will replace the wooden shaft holder...

Will try this project today. On the Cognisys stepper motor shaft: do I need to remove the black plastic covering? or leave it on as it provides part of the 'grip' for the hole it would be inserted in (likely a dowel? ...off to Home Depot with my Nikon Eclipse E200 fine focus knob in hand). Edited to...

Thanks for the explanations and tip. Yes, I saw the image information and the fat page and didn't realize I was the cause... sorry about that. edited to add: the Sony 4K does 20MP files in still images, so I'll check out the objective route with hope... edited to add: I just tried out a Nikon 4X E P...

Stacking results with a Sony 4K video camera, 40X, 10X, 4X
I was curious to try and stack on the fly with my Sony HDR AX-100 4K HandyCam since I thought maybe I could take advantage of the 30fps and simply change focus during the shoot. This 4K camcorder (3840x2160 pixels in 4K video mode) has a 1" CMOS sensor and since it's video, no mirror slap to worry a...
