Re: USPS Priority Mail Lens Shipments Gone Missing?
Two weeks ago I received a package from Shanghai in 5 days via DHL. By contrast, our post offices in central Texas just reopened this morning after a week's inactivity. https://communityimpact.com/austin/central-austin/weather/2021/02/18/us-postal-service-operations-in-austin-suspended-indefinitely-...

Re: Testing Olympus UPlanFL N 4x 0.13 (FN 26.5)
These are some images I just took with the Olympus UPlanApo 4x/0.16, UMPlanFL 10x/0.30, and an LMPlanFL 20x/0.40 on a Sony A6300, using an ITL200 tube lens. The predicted magnification would have been 200/180 times each objective's nominal magnification - I measured 4.38x rather than the expected 4....

Re: Testing Olympus UPlanFL N 4x 0.13 (FN 26.5)
I found this lens used at a good price and being aware that Charles Krebs uses it with excellent results I bought it. It came pretty dirty and after a good cleaning I'm testing it. I find the results pretty good although my testing abilities and subjects are not the best. Chromatic aberrations are ...

Re: For Trade: Tomioka 32mm f3.5 and Gretag 120
I just received one of the Gretag 120s from Ray a few days ago - it was in better condition than I had anticipated from the description.

Re: Schneider locking screws
Thanks, good to know there are at least two variations of these locking screws. You are welcome. Just to clarify, I measured a locking screw from a Unifoc-58, not the smaller Unifoc-12 for which Ray needed replacement screws. I was hoping to appropriate it, at least temporarily, for the MacroVaron,...

Re: Schneider locking screws
Just wondering, are these thumbscrews identical to the ones from the Xenoplan machine vision line of lenses? Anyone owning both types of lenses? I measure the Xenoplan ones to have a width of 2.4mm over the peaks of the screw thread and be 4mm in length, with the final mm close to the knurled head ...

Re: linos lens 105mm F 5.6 need help
Doesn't the 105/5.6 feature a Schneider Optics V-groove dovetail mount? I could be wrong. If I'm not, an original Schneider adaptor that converts the dovetail to M42 can be had for around $50 used. Not cheap but you do get Schneider's quality. The Schneider mounts are V38, but the Linos 5.6 inspec....

Re: Test wafer distribution: Many features, includes res chart
I just got mine. It was left on our front porch yesterday, even though it had been marked as delivered quite a while ago. I assume it was placed in the wrong mail box, and our anonymous neighbor had their own reasons for the delay. Anyway, it is broken into numerous pieces, but one of them is large ...

Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products
An addendum: On Thursday the U.S. Trade Representative proposed an additional 25% tariff on German lenses (as well as increased import fees on many other items). This proposal is open to public comment until July 26th. https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/enforcement/301Investigations/Review_of_Acti...

Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products
Thanks David, I'm hopeful that it may be the perfect FF tube lens. Another potential option for a FF tube lens may be a Pentax 67 300mm f/4 EDIF. It doesn't have the spectral sensitivity range of the Zeiss lens, weighs considerably more, and has a greater front filter thread (82mm vs 60mm), but it ...

Re: US Buyers Beware of Tariffs on EU Products
Are there more countries besides the ones you listed which have a 25% tariff? Or is itthe place of manufacture that matters? But for most products that is not obvious. For lenses (and other photographic equipment), the place of manufacture is restricted to Germany. See https://captureintegration.co...

Re: Camera flange to sensor distance variation
Thanks Lou.
If there is a correlation between the number of shutter actuations in the Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras and the failure of their sensor-IBIS mounts (not directly addressed in the article), it would have implications for routinely using these cameras to do large stacks.

Camera flange to sensor distance variation
An interesting (and slightly disturbing) article from Roger Cicala:
